Celebrating International Women’s Day:
Give to Gain at United Insurance

On this International Women’s Day (IWD), United Insurance is proud to honor the remarkable women who strengthen our organization every day. This year’s global theme, ‘Give to Gain,’ resonates deeply with our culture, one built on integrity, collaboration, and dependability.

Across United Insurance, women play an essential role in shaping who we are and how we serve our clients and communities. From those working behind the scenes to those leading teams across our agencies, each has raised the bar for what excellence looks like at United Insurance. Their dedication, expertise, and commitment to our shared mission inspire every member of our organization.

We are especially proud that much of our agency leadership is comprised of women, reflecting our ongoing commitment to fostering opportunity and supporting career growth at every level. Already this year, seven women across our organization have earned well‑deserved promotions, further strengthening our leadership pipeline and demonstrating the impact of investing in our talent.

We caught up with a few women from our team in various roles across our 18 United Insurance agencies to hear what ‘Give to Gain’ means to them and how they empower other women in the insurance industry on this International Women’s Day.

Deanne Daigle, Personal Lines Account Manager in our Madawaska office, said, “’Give to Gain’ can mean many things. To me, as a woman, it means giving voice. Speaking up with confidence and offering support to one another. Giving becomes an act of empowerment. When we uplift, mentor, and open doors for one another, we transform support into strength. And in doing so, we gain more than recognition; we gain visibility, influence, solidarity, and stronger networks built.”

Katie Handrahan, Commercial Lines Account Manager in our Farmington office, noted that, “’Give to Gain’ reminds me that when leading with love and kindness, it creates a ripple effect. By uplifting others, we grow too. Every act of generosity plants a seed that returns in connection, strength, and possibility.”

Novilla Rollins, Agency Manager & Personal Lines Account Manager in our Brewer office, shared, “For me, ‘Give to Gain’ is about showing up for other women in a historically male-dominated industry. It’s sharing my knowledge, celebrating their wins, and being the mentor I needed when I was starting out. When we invest in each other and build our confidence, we don’t just move forward individually. We move the whole industry forward.”

Shelby Ouellette, Receptionist/Administrative Assistant in our Fort Kent office, said, “In celebration of IWD, to me, ‘Give to Gain’ is more than a theme. It’s a mindset that reflects United Insurance’s core values. True success happens when we intentionally invest in one another through mentorship, shared knowledge, and authentic leadership. When we choose to uplift others, we don’t dilute our own success; we amplify it. Empowering women creates stronger connections, more resilient teams, and a culture built on collaboration. The more we provide support and opportunity, the more we build trust, foster growth, and drive collective success.”

Viviana Mendoza, Commercial Lines Account Manager in our Portland office, expressed, “The ‘Give to Gain’ theme reminds me that when we give encouragement, assistance, kindness, even on a small scale, we also create that space for ourselves. Beyond that, it not only sets a standard for what we deserve, but also for what’s possible, individually and as a company.”

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we extend our gratitude to all the women of United Insurance. Your contributions make us stronger, more innovative, and more connected to the communities we serve. Thank you for giving us your time, your insight, and your leadership.
