Strengthening Our Community by Helping More Kids Get Outside!
Our distinctive black and yellow jackets stood out against the snow at Sugarloaf Mountain as the United Insurance Fast & Flurries team returned for our fourth year participating in the WinterKids Downhill24. For one unforgettable night, Lower Narrow Gauge lit up under the stars while teams skied and rode in support of WinterKids’ mission to help children across Maine get outside and stay active all winter long.

Supporting WinterKids Downhill24 has become a meaningful tradition for our organization. Their programs open doors for thousands of K–12 students to experience the joy and confidence that come from outdoor winter play, which should be accessible to every child, regardless of background or resources. At United Insurance, our philanthropic focus on youth development aligns deeply with this mission, and participating in the WinterKids Downhill24 gives us a chance to put that commitment into action.
This year, our 12-person Fast & Flurries team hit the slopes with renewed energy and purpose. Run after run, hour after hour, we pushed ourselves not just for the challenge, but for the kids who benefit from WinterKids programs. Together, we proudly raised $35,911, surpassing our $30,000 fundraising goal and earning 2nd place overall among all participating teams.
