United Insurance and Sibley Transportation:
Partners in Growth

When Marcus Sibley took over Sibley Transportation in 2010, he started executing a growth plan his great grandfather Merle could never have imagined. Beginning with a handful of trucks, Sibley Transportation now has over 60 trucks and 250 trailers hauling cargo all over the country and 300,000 square feet of warehouse space in Bangor.

As Marcus’s fleet, staff, and facility grew, so did his risk.

In 2012, Marcus connected with Ed Therrien from our Bangor office who took the time to understand every facet of Sibley Transportation to introduce new driver training programs, identify opportunities to make the entire operation safer, and help Marcus focus on his next goal. “I think one of the biggest successes of a company is our ability to give our employees a good environment to work in,” Marcus explains. “Ed has been able to help us with that in a big way.”

Like any good partnership, Ed and Marcus’s relationship is a two-way street. When Ed brings Marcus a new idea to share with his drivers or the latest best practices, Marcus is always willing to listen and act. “Safety is critical, but I don’t always have time to stay on top of the latest innovations.” Marcus said. “Ed and United Insurance do the research for me and give me their recommendations so I can focus on keeping my team happy and growing our company.”

“Ed is more than just an insurance agent, he’s a friend. A lifelong advocate for our company as well as our family.”
